On this day in 1979 Magic Johnson made his debut for Los Angeles Lakers. Little did anyone know, Johnson would end up becoming one of the greatest point guards of all time. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches, Johnson was unusually large for a point guard. Many people doubted him saying he was too big to play the position. However, he immediately proved them wrong by scoring 26 points in his first game against the San Diego Clippers. Johnson would end up playing a long NBA career, winning four championships with the Lakers. Along with his success, he also was selected to the NBA Hall of Fame the first year he was on the ballot.
